Why I cannot access my Plex Media Server from both LAN and WAN?

This problem might be caused because user ticked the checkbox “Require authentication on local networks” in the settings of Plex

This option will restrict all the connections other than 127.0.0.1/255.255.255.255.

 

To disable this option, please do the following:

1.    Login NAS through SSH with “root” (you can use putty to login, the password will be the same as your “admin”)

2.     vi /volume1/Plex/Library/Plex\ Media\ Server/Preferences.xml

3.     remove the "allowedNetworks" option

4.     save the changes

5.     reboot NAS, and you should be able to access Plex now.
