S3/Standby is a one of the sleep state, as known as suspend to the system memory, that is supported by the system hardware and certain operating systems. Once the system goes to sleep, it will "wake up" when the power button is pressed, or wake on LAN by ASUSTOR Control Center (issue the wake up command by LAN).  It can be quickly wake up from system memory. It does not like a cold boot which means a PC is in shutdown state. And, it will boot from a hard drive when press the power button.
